Olympics friendly: Team GB outclassed by Brazil (0-2)

Olympic Games, Great Britain, Brazil | 2012-07-20 22:21

Great Britain have lost their first game in 41 years, as they conceded a 2-0 defeat to a strong Brazilian squad, in a preparation match ahead of the Olympics, at the Riverside Stadium.

Tottenham midfielder, Sandro, opened the score for the Canaries side, in a fine header at just 13 minutes into the match.

Then, Barcelona and Real Madrid target, Neymar, scored the decider with still 10 minutes to go before the end of the first-half.

The Santos star scored a penalty-kick, after Micah Richards brought Porto talisman, Hulk, down in the small area.

Stuart Pearce’s side ended up conceding a bitter defeat to Brazil, as they were unable to comeback from the 2-0 disadvantage throughout the entire second-half.

Daniel Sturridge managed to start for Team GB, after having fully-recovered from a meningitis. All of the over-aged players also featured from the start, with Micah Richards being given a centre-back role.

Mano Menezes also named a solid squad, which included Neymar, Porto attacker Hulk, Real Madrid's Marcelo and Manchester United right-back Rafael.
