Pardew - If Andy Carroll comes it will only add to us

Transfer window, Liverpool, Newcastle, Andy Carroll | 2012-07-17 12:58

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has declared that the possibility of Andy Carroll return to St James Park depends solely on chairman Mike Ashley and the Liverpool board.

The 23-year-old has been widely linked with a loan move to Newcastle, since new Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is not believed to see the attacker suitable to his football style of play.

But Newcastle have reportedly seen a £13m loan offer Carroll rejected by the Anfield Road side, who are only willing to let the player go for at least £20m.

Furthermore, according to Pardew, the negotiations regarding the striker's loan deal have nothing to do with him, as the only people involved are the team's chairman and the Reds' board.

"It will be what it will be. That whole process is a little bit more involved with the chairman and the board at Liverpool," Pardew said to Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

"We've got a great team here, a great squad, and if Andy Carroll comes it'll only add to us."

"It's simple, really. Sometimes transfers are done at corporate level. I'm slightly detached from that."

"It's been said that he's available, and if we're involved then we'll be involved because of the figures, not anything else, because we know he's good enough. I'm slightly detached from it."
