OFFICIAL: Fabio Capello appointed as new Russia manager

Russia, Fabio Capello | 2012-07-16 11:58

The Russian Federation have officially announced Fabio Capello as the new manager of the national team, succeeding to Dick Advocaat.

"We have nominated Fabio Capello as the new manager of Russia," Nikita Simonyan, the vice-president of the Russian Federation stated to Itar-Tass.

"Soon, he will arrive in Moscow to finalise the details of the contract he will sign."

The Italian coach has resigned from his position as England manager, ahead of the Euro 2012, due to a disagreement with the Football Association, who decided to scrap off John Terry's captaincy status.
