Carroll expecting more starts

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll wants to have more starts for the Reds as he guarantees he changed his lifestyle.

Carroll became the most expensive British player of all times in January 2011 as he completed a move to Anfield from Newcastle. However, he only scored 10 goals in 51 appearances and spent much of his time on the bench, which led to a crisis in confidence.

However, the England international netted the winner in Liverpool's last two games against Blackburn and Everton (in the FA Cup semi-final), and believes he will start scoring more if he is given more game time.

“I am confident in myself that, if I am playing games, I will score goals and put myself about. I cannot really do that if I am on the bench and coming on in the last 10 minutes of games. What I want is to start games and put myself about like I know I can. When I haven't been playing, you get low on confidence,” he said.

The striker was once criticised by former England manager Fabio Capello, who advised him to 'drink less' if he still wanted to be called up for international duty. Nevertheless, Carroll insists his life is different since he joined the Merseysiders.

“My past is my past. I changed my lifestyle when I came to Liverpool and settled down. I love it here.To be honest, I don't go out at all. I know what people say is not true, my family knows it's not true and the club knows it's not true.”
