Chelsea have received a boost with the full fitness of John Terry and Ashley Cole as they prepare to take on neighbours Tottenham for the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

The two have been absent due to injuries but interim manager Roberto Di Matteo has announced they will be available to face Spurs in a match which could be crucial for the two team’s aims of getting any silverware this season.

“Ashley trained today and is fine, he’s available. It’s a good time to have him back. John Terry came through training fine too,” the manager told reporters.

The news is more important considering that Chelsea have yet another key fixture in mid-week as they face Barcelona to play the first leg of the Champions League last-four.

Two opportunities

This week will be absolutely decisive for Chelsea’s future this term as they play their fates in both FA Cup and Champions League. However, Di Matteo insists he is only thinking of Tottenham, but refused to determine if any of the teams are favourites.

“The two times we played in the league, the games were quite balanced. But in a one-off game it is difficult to say who is favourite due to the form, because the dynamic is a little different.”

He added: “We are in good form and the players are confident. At the moment I am only looking at the game on Sunday, and thinking about what is the best selection to win that game.”

“We have two opportunities to win a trophy and we will try to win them both.”
