Sir Alex - Spurs will be massive game

Premier League 2011/2012, Tottenham, Man. United | 2012-02-29 00:09

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes the Premier League encounter with Tottenham will be ‘massive’ and key for his side to ‘survive' in the title race.

The Red Devils have come through a tough set of the calendar, with wins over Liverpool and Arsenal and an epic tie at Stamford Bridge, while Manchester City have had an easier time.

However, after the Red Devils take on Spurs on Sunday, there could be a turn of events with Manchester United having played all their rivals. And Sir Alex Ferguson believes victory could lead to happy times in the Red half of Manchester.

“It’s going to be a massive game at Spurs. If we can survive that one, then we’ll have a big chance of winning the league,” the Scotsman told Inside United.

The two bitter neighbours will lock horns on April 30 and the 70 year-old admits he would prefer not to be behind City in the standings but reminds that a two-point delay still gives United a good chance.

“I would rather go there on level points. But if we could go there within striking distance of being top of the league, I’d take it.”
