Real Madrid are ready to splash the cash on AC Milan defender Thiago Silva, who has been heavily linked with rivals Barcelona.

The Spanish leaders want the centre-back next season and are considering to put £25 million on the table, plus the permanent transfer of Sergio Ramos or Pepe, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A champions are not expected to let go of the 27 year-old easily but have been associated to an interest in the Spanish international Sergio Ramos, which could turn in favour of Real Madrid in a race with their bitter rivals to secure Silva's services.

However, Thiago Silva, who arrived at San Siro in 2009, has already claimed he would like to play for the Catalan giants, despite he is not currently thinking of a move away from AC Milan.
